Panduan Belanja Knalpot Racing

KLIK - Detail Ada panduan praktis buat yang mau ganti knalpot racing. Harry Novrian, mekanik HMTC Harry Speed Shop coba bagi pengalaman. Maklum, doi langganan jadi tempat curhat ABG (anak motor baru gede) yang kesulitan saat mau beli knalpot racing.

Kalau sudah salah beli, biasanya knalpot dengan sangat terpaksa dipasang asal. Kalau bentuk yang dikorbankan, ujung-ujungnya komponen di motor kena sasaran. Saran Harry, ada tiga hal yang mesti diperhatikan saat beli knalpot racing.

Paling mendasar ada pada leher knalpot. Sampai saat ini, paling banyak dipilih ABG adalah bentuk lekukan leher rata (gbr. 1). Maksudnya tidak ada kerutan yang bisa bikin mesin cepat panas karena aliran gas tersendat. Pastikan juga tinggi ujung leher knalpot sama seperti asli. Kalau tidak, berisiko bocor juga sulit diikat baut," lanjut mekanik praktik di Jl. Jend. Sukanto, Malaka, Jakarta Timur.

SALING TUKAR KNALPOT
Meski punya tampang beda, knalpot racing juga bisa saling tukar. Tentu bukan tukar tambah, gituuuu. Melainkan, bisa saling tukar antar tipe beberapa merek motor. Contoh paling universal, yaitu pelepas gas bakar racing Honda Supra X yang bisa dipasang ke Suzuki Shogun 110 dan 125 atau sebaliknya.

Ketiganya juga bisa diterapkan ke Yamaha Jupiter-Z dan Suzuki Smash. "Tapi dengan syarat, cuma Jupiter-Z baru. Itu karena motor Komeng itu tidak dilengkapi engine guard. Sedang buat Smash, ujung leher knalpot kudu dipotong sedikit atau baut pengikat diganti sama yang lebih panjang," pasti Harry yang mengaku pernah melakukan itu.

Nah, buat tunggangan 4-tak pada Honda baru dan Kawasaki tidak perlu khawatir. Setelah melihat konstruksi mesin dan pegangan knalpot kedua tipe motor itu, Harry pastikan kalau Supra X 125 bisa pakai knalpot racing Karisma 125D. Begitu juga dengan Kawasaki Kaze dan Blitz yang punya betuk sama persis.

Knalpot Racing Tua-Muda

Pasang knalpot racing tidak hanya marak di motor bebek, skubek, ataupun motor batangan alias sport bin lelaki. Belakangan wabah atau virus pasang kalpot racing ini lagi gandrung di komunitas Vespa. Salah satunya komunitas Vespa Campur Sari yang biasa mangkal di parkiran Circle K, Jl. Wijaya, Jakarta Selatan.

Memang, buat meningkatkan akselerasi tungganan paling simpel bisa ditempuh dengan pasang knalpot racing. "Meskipun jenis scooter, Vespa juga bisa dibikin kenceng lho. Buktinya di luar negeri banyak dijual part Vespa dengan spek racing," ujar Banon Umarianto pemilik Vespa New PX.

Knalpot racing ini bisa diaplikasi ke seluruh tipe Vespa. Tua-muda. Mulai Vespa lawas seperti Super, Sprint, hingga produk PX dan New PX. "Buat tipe PTS atau Vespa Special juga sudah banyak yang pakai knalpot racing," jelas M. Fadli, roadracer yang juga gabung di komuitas ini.

Pilihan knalpot racing yang dipakai oleh komunitas ini beragam. "Ada yang mengandalkan produk impor juga banyak yang pakai produk lokal. Tinggal sesuaikan aja dengan kantong pemilik motor," jelas Temmy, pemilik Vespa tipe Sprint Bagol.

Memang saat ini tidak tarlalu banyak pilihan jenis knalpot racing lokal buat Vespa. Rata-rata masih mengandalakan produk racing lokal yang dulu sempat marak seperti merek Sito Racing dan Zipenk Racing. "Knalpot lokal juga oke tinggal dibantu setingan mesin yang pas aja," timpal Banon yang mengandalkan saluran buang berlabel Zipenk Racing.

Untuk knalpot racing impor buat scooter montok itu pilihannya juga banyak. Ada merek Malossi, Proma, Polini, JL Seigiorni atau Pinasco. Seluruh produk knalpot luar ini buatan negara asal Vespa yaitu Italia.

Perbedaan antara knalpot racing lokal dan import ini bisa dikenali dari suaranya. "Kalau pasang knalpot racing lokal lebih berisik. Sedang produk impor suaranya lebih lembut dan halus," jelas Leo pemilik Vespa New PX.

Perbedaan lain ada pada materialnya dan proses pembuatan knalpot. Pipa buang lokal pakai pelat yang lebih tipis dan sambungan antarpelat masih terlihat kasar. Sedangkan produk impor, pelat yang dipakai lebih tebal, menggunakan sistem pres untuk menekuk pelatnya. Proses pengelasan juga jauh lebih halus katimbang produk lokal.

Alternatif lain bisa juga pakai knalpot racing Vespa bikinan Thailand. Saluran buang racing ini umumnya polos tidak dilengkapi merek. Model yang tersedia moncong knalpot keluarnya dari kiri dan pelatnya sudah di krom.

Buat belanja produk impor ini ada beberapa alternatif. Bisa langsung meluncur ke Singapura lantaran di sana memang banyak toko jual produk branded impor dari Italia. Atau bisa juga mengandalkan internet dan order barang lewat e-bay.

Harga memang lumayan tinggi. Seperti Pinasco yang ditebus Leo Rp 3,5 jutaan. Pasang di Vespa New PX. Sementara produk racing lokal harganya bervariasi. Mulai Rp 150- Rp 200 ribuan!

PERLU SETING ULANG

Pasang knalpot racing biar hasilnya maksimal harus seting ulang mesin. Dilakukan agar penggantian knalpot jadi enggak sia-sia alias cuma suaranya aja yang berkoar tapi larinya kacrut. "Minimal karburator seperti spuyer diseting ulang lagi menyesuaikan kebutuhan mesin," jelas Kopral, mekanik andalan yang biasa menangani Vespa di komunitas Campur Sari ini.

Bila ingin tenaga motor lebih galak untuk Vespa jenis Sprint Atau PX bisa mengganti karburator dengan milik Vespa Spartan ukuranya 24/24. "Tambah enak saluran masuk dan buang juga dipolish," lanjut Kopral lagi.

Untuk Vespa PTS atau Special, karburator bisa di-upgrade mengandalkan karbu racing milik motor Jepang seperti ukuran 24 atau 28 mm. "Tipe karbu dan dudukan yang dipakai untuk jenis Vespa ini sama seperti motor harian," jelas Fadli yang sudah pakai karbu 28 mm buat PTS full kompetisi milik rekannya.
